The unCONFERENCE is a super fun pitch competition put on by BendTECH. They have a first come, first serve, informal competition for any entrepreneur that has an idea for a product or service. The crowd is enthusiastic and is full of investors, business owners and people simply interested in seeing new ideas and meeting new people.
They have a few minutes at the end of the conference where the crowd gets to vote on their favorite pitch. The winner receives some awesome prizes. In 2018 they gave away $2000 and a year of co-working space at BendTECH! Wow!
They used to do the voting manually and use tokens in jars for each presenter. This took forever and was kind of low-tech for a pitch conference pretty heavy with technology. So we built them a voting app that allows attendees to quickly and easily scan a QR code with their mobile device and vote in seconds. Vote counts are shown to the conference team instantly and they can even pick a random person in the crowd to win a price. They gave away an Apple Watch at the last one!
